Dessert Dash at YRJ Event

I had the honor of photographing the Youth, Rights and Justice Gala at the Nines again this year. My favorite part to photograph at this event is the dessert dash! Tables bid on their desserts, all donated from local bakeries, and dash to get the one they want.

Honeymoon Photos

Usually, I am just there for engagement and wedding photos. But on this special occasion, I was there for the whole entire honeymoon! I brought my professional camera and enjoyed the sights of Italy with my new husband.

Our first stop was Rome.

PB & J

The date was 9-10-11 and the task was to create the perfect PB&J...Phil Burns and Jackie. Their gorgeous day was supposed to break temperature records, but turned out to be a perfectly sunny breezy Oregon afternoon.

The first dances were some of my favorites. Phil was singing their song to Jackie. Very sweet!

And then the party continued until 5am!

"Knowing what's most important to the bride, Alicia Dickerson treats the dress picture like a work of art. 'Finding the dress can take months, so I figure I owe it to her to...capture a photo she truly loves,' says the Portland wedding photographer. In this case, the bride, Caley Crowder, grew up going to The Madeleine Parish in Northeast Portland, so Dickerson worked in the tricky shadows of dark church light to capture the sense of place on her July 10, 2010 wedding day. With no room for a tripod in the tiny choir loft, she used a fast wide-angled lens to get a crisp image and slightly overexposed to let extra light glow through the stained glass and lace. Some delicate post production enhancements in contrast and saturation complete a photo that glows as much as the bride surely did." (by Liz Hummer)

Amy and Hans

Amy and Hans were married in Washington at the Elim Lutheran Church. They lucked out with a gorgeous sunny day! Just after their "first moment look," the sun set behind them.

The church was absolutely packed as everyone watched their vows.

The reception was held at Camas Meadows Golf Club. The couple went outside for a quick photo with the trees as a backdrop and a moment alone.

I am a huge fan of the first dance and always make sure to truly capture the moment.

Even the guys were into this toss!

Angie and Scott: Fall Wedding

This was such a lovely day with the beginning hints of fall. I adored the fall colors at the wedding and how fun the couple was to photograph.

Andie and Zack

Andie and Zack had the prettiest flowers I have ever seen. The colors were absolutely delicious together.

They were married at the World Trade Center in downtown Portland, right by this fountain. In fact, as this photo was taken, their reception was happening in the room right above the bride's head.

First dance.

All the little cards pointing guests to their tables had these puzzles on them. The guests had to figure out their table from the clue.

Yes! These are the very unique "Voodoo" doughnuts from a famous little shop in Portland. This was my favorite detail about this wedding, very unique and very Portland! Most of the guests were from out of town and got a kick out of Andie and Zack's "cake."

Kimberly Maus and Her Cowboy, Matt

Saddle up...this is one of my favorite engagement shoots ever! Kimberly Maus from Portland's KPTV Fox 12 met Matt, a real life rodeo cowboy, a couple years ago at the St. Paul Rodeo. He proposed to her this fourth of July at the rodeo. I did their engagement photos just north of Portland on a few hundred acres where she boards their horses. It was all absolutely gorgeous: the land, the couple, the horses.

Lindsay & Adam: Follow the Yellow Brick Road

What a wedding filled with details! After a nine year courtship, Adam and Lindsay had an amazing wedding day. Think "Wizard of Oz" meets the Fourth of July, complete with ruby red slippers, a Guest Photo Experience, sparklers, yummy pies, a classic car, bagpipe players...

As a girl, the bride loved to act out and sing The Wizard of Oz.

I first met Lindsay after photographing her two dogs, Murphy and Oden. She used those photos on her bouquet to include the dogs in the wedding.

Holly & Chad

Holly and Chad tied the knot just two weeks after my previous wedding at Mcmenamin's Edgefield. But instead of being water logged, we got sunburned! That's what great about Oregon though...you never know what is going to happen to make your wedding day unique. Holly and Chad's day was sunny and bright, just like them and their families. On days like this, it hardly feels like work. It was my pleasure to capture their story.

Holly had her dress custom redesigned to be perfect for her day. We hung it in the hall just outside of her room.

She had a friendly entourage to help her into her dress.

Chad was waiting for Holly in the vegetable garden for a "first moment look" before the ceremony.

Liz and Josh were married at Mcmenamins Edgefield during the biggest rain storm of the spring. That didn't stop them from having their "first moment look" outside, goofing off when the sky cleared briefly or enjoying their reception to the fullest. In fact, their wedding was unique & sweet and a very memorable affair.

Today was a beautiful morning at Wholeness Face and Body. I first met the owner, Stacey Anderson, when she gave me a facial 2 years ago. She is the real deal: a great esthetician, a successful small business owner and she is very educated about her products. She will use only the best and most natural ingredients available. This photo shoot will launch her new website, coming soon!

This is Stacey doing a facial on both a man and a woman in her Hollywood district location.

Willow also works at Wholeness and does massage therapy.

Coach and Boomer's Winter

Coach (aka Suzanne) and Boomer (aka Ryan) are getting married on May day. If you are wondering, his family has a thing for nicknames! I had a great time doing their engagement shoot at a Gabriel Park in SW Portland. They are a very fun couple who were game for a walk around the park in the cold. The scenery was beautiful in a quiet sort of way. That being said, I can't wait for SPRING and the sun and flowers that will come with their May wedding (fingers crossed!!)

Soon to be Famous...

This artist need some photos to really show off his work for his website, dennisdickerson.com. It takes a bit of work to photograph paintings and not get any glare. These paintings are huge, anywhere from 4 feet tall and bigger. In total, I took photos of about 30 paintings, which is about 1/5 of his total body of work.

This was one of my favorites. Unlike the others, this one was done without any professional brushes, just a handful of Q-tips.

These two paintings are representations of very old photos he bought off of ebay. Bringing these women who are long gone back to life in such a vibrant and modern style is nothing short of amazing.

This one is a bit more modern and is a representation of a hollywood actress, mid-scene.

After the shoot, I got a shot of the artist relaxing outside my studio. This gives you a sense of the size of his paintings.

P.S. Did I mention this is also my dad?

Melissa & Kelly...a very red wedding!

This couple had a beautiful and small wedding on Valentine's Day at Ponzi Vineyard. Everywhere you looked, they had little red details.

These two couldn't stop cracking each other up...even as they entered their wedding together.

They lucked out and had a beautiful day (with just a touch of mud!)

I love these quick stolen moments in time. The two "best women" are signing the commitment certificate and emotions were high.

And at any good vineyard, there is a faithful companion watching over the day.

Liz & Josh...Engaged!

What a gorgeous day! Brynn and Kevin were married at the Adrianna Hill Grand Ballroom downtown. Before their wedding we had some rare perfect weather to enjoy the park blocks.

Nicole & Bryan...engaged!

With this crazy weather lately, I wasn't sure what would happen for this engagement session. In between two rain storms, we found some dry spots with gorgeous fall colors in the park blocks. Then, we photographed on the Eastbank Esplanade (my favorite spot!) and caught some setting sun and some city lights. It was fun to meet Nicole and Bryan even though I won't be able to shoot their wedding in California next year. They are one of those couples who obviously really enjoy each other's company and make each other laugh.

And did I mention they have an adorable dog!?! (Keep the dogs coming everyone! I love engagement shoots with the whole "pack.")

Fall Family Photos

Fall is the perfect time to get your family's photos taken. I love shooting at Laurelhurst Park capturing kids playing with the leaves.

This is Maggie's beautiful family. She is the very talented Office Manager and Graphic Designer for Alicia Dickerson Photography.

Maggie's daughter asked if she could have a photo with her dad, but instead of calling him "daddy, she called him by his first name. Very cute!

Her son is turning one in just a few days. He had a great time in the park.

Betsy & Corey

Betsy has been my hairdresser for 3 years. She works for Revolution in SW Portland and does wonderful work! I was so excited to meet her husband, Corey, on their wedding day (I have heard quite a bit about him over the years!). They are a sweet and very fun couple with an adorable little girl.

The "getting ready" part of this wedding was a big deal! These ladies love to do hair and make-up. By my count, there were at least 3 hairdressers in the room at all times.

When one of the flower girls forgot her fancy black wedding shoes, she decided to just wear her converse sneakers. These were my favorite shoes from the whole summer!

The couple said their vows at The Academy Chapel in Vancouver.

Their daughter, Lyric, slept peacefully through the whole ceremony with Grandma.

Must Love Dogs...

I first met Rema when I photographed her dogs, Josie and Olive. She shared with me how important they are to her and I tried my best to capture their sweet connection. A few years later, I heard that Rema had met a wonderful man at a dog park! How perfect is that? He has a big love for his dogs too. On the back of their wedding program was a snapshot of their four dogs and a note of thank-you to them for helping with the "initial introductions." I thought it was a perfect background for a close-up macro shot of their rings. Nice work dogs!

The ceremony was in the stunning St. Joseph's Catholic church in Vancouver, Washington.

The bridal party was ready for some fun. The guys insisted on picking up the groom for a photo!

The couple left the reception as they were showered in bubbles.

High-School Sweethearts: Joe and Erica

Joe and Erica were high school sweethearts. It took them a few years, but they just tied the knot!

The couple attended Wilson High School and even went to prom together. They had photos of themselves throughout the years placed around their reception.

Their daughter made the cutest flower girl, especially when she dumped all the petals at once.

The wedding was full of high school friends who had known the couple for many years. Emotions ran high as the couple said their vows.

Married! We walked across the street from the wedding to Laurelhurst Park to do some photos in the gorgeous late-afternoon light.

The couple's son edged his way into their first dance! He brought the toy car that was with him the whole day to the dance floor.

I loved the CD mix Joe and Erica gave to all the guests. It made the perfect background for a close-up shot of their rings.

Spelman Wedding

Lyn and Rick have inspired me to finally start this blog! They had a beautiful wedding reception at the World Forestry Center in Portland after being married in Cambodia. It was a great day in spite of the rain and chill! I just loved all the colors at the reception, especially the traditional Cambodian attire. With about 250 guests, this was a wonderful celebration of their marriage.
